Choosing a subdomain for hosting product

Muhammad Hamza shared this idea 5 years ago
Completed

Hello,

I just found out that Blesta doesn't have this feature, but this feature would really help. This will work like this:

If someone doesn't have their own domain, then they can use sub domain on our own domain. Like if my hosting company has got a domain testhost.com, then users will have an option to choose our sub domain, like website.testhost.com. This is something that is also done by Weebly and other websites that give free hosts etc.

This can be added in a cPanel module.

i prefer if this should be a universal setting not related to a module, let say i will add the main domain (and may be a list of 3 or more) and if activate the option to offer free subdomain, then the order form show add a new option for selecting a sub-domain with the selecting a generic domain .

as this will impact not only cpanel, but directadmin , vestacp, plesk , interworx, ..ect .

Yes, this is a good idea. However but first priority should be cPanel, means it must be automatic for cPanel at first since making for all those modules will take long time.

How would you make it generic like that? Modules provide service fields, and even if the order plugin or the core was to provide such a field somehow, a lot of modules don't use domains. This seem like a module level feature.

technically you know it can be done with some customization, look to others how they have this in native and with any module.

the first step i think is to unify the domain field in service fields for all registrar module and hosting modules, or to make a mapped config file.
