Promotions for domains (and maybe even services)

It would be nice to have a promotion system for domains or maybe even for regular services where it's possible to setup a discount for a specific time frame without altering actual prices manually.

For example, if you want to have an automatic 50% discount promotion (or even a fixed amount) on .com domain names from dec 1st. to dec 31st. without altering that tld's price and without using coupons. So it automatically applies that discount between those dates.

Also, if the registrar's api allows it, maybe registrar promotions could be imported automatically not as tld price changes but as a limited time promotion on those prices (there's a task for importing prices for 5.3 I believe).

I like this idea

We already added an option for free domain with hosting that can be configured on the order form. This request seems to be asking for coupons for domains that are automatically applied, but I'm not sure what the benefit to that is over just adjusting the price of the TLD for the sale period.

Free domain is different, we can offer free domain with shared hosting or vps or others. But what we mean here that is discounted price for first year. Like most of the company provide us discount price for first year & we can purchase it automatically, we no need to use any coupon/etc.

So, same way we want an option to give discount for any domain for 1st year/registration. You can check namecheap/namesilo/etc & you can see they offer lower price for 1st year but not for renewal. We are actually looking for similar functionality that why we can offer some discount to attract the customer.

so, this can be done by making a plugin similar like where we can put the % or the amount for desire domain tlds that will apply for registration/transfer but not for renewal.

Why not just set a 1 year price on the TLD to include the discount? Years 2-10 and renewal prices can be set differently. Packages > Domain Options.

If you are suggesting that a discount be applied and the price for 1 year new registration not be actually changed, how would that discount look? Would it be a % off, or a amount off? Would it apply to a single TLD or multiple TLDs? What would the view look like to enable a discount?

Rather, I could see an option to disable price-sync of a specific term for new/renew/transfer so that you just adjust the price for 1 year new on the TLDs you want to discount and prevent the price from being changed via the usual price sync. Not seeing how a separate discount system would be better than this.
