Expire domain

by domainic.id · 3 weeks ago

Is it possible to modify the status of the domain, server/hosting package, and related items?

We noticed that the domain does not show an expiration status like the one found in WHMCS; perhaps the domain manager relies on the registrar's status system. Typically, a "suspended" status is applied only when there is an abuse report.

Generally, "suspend" and "cancel" apply to hosting or VPS services—for instance, a 5-day suspension following the expiration date, followed by termination 30 days after suspension. Applying this same pattern to domains wouldn't be quite right, as domains can still be restored up to 35 days after expiration.

Conversely, if hosting services were to follow the domain lifecycle, the timeframe would be excessively long.

Where are you looking exactly? Under Billing > Domains, under a client profile Domains widget, and in the client area in the Domains widget, an Expiration Date is displayed for domains.

As far as domain grace period and redemption periods, we are planning to make some updates. If you have a specific suggestion, please provide details. unless you think the statuses of Suspend and Cancel should just not apply to domains? Currently, to cancel a domain you just toggle off Auto Renewal and unless it's renewed manually it'll just expire.

So, I wonder if you're running version 6.0.3 or you're using an older version? What you describe sounds more like an older version, if not I'd love some more specifics.

In the widget area, the domain status still shows as "active," even though it is one day past the expiration date. In reality, however, the domain is inaccessible because it has expired; this is because the suspension process is configured to trigger 5–7 days after the expiration date. Consequently, the displayed status does not accurately reflect the domain's actual state.
